Pleasant Evening. A very pleasant evening was held In the Te Rapa Hall, when the Social Club held a euchre tournament and dance. Despite the Inclement weather and sickness In the district there was a good attendance, visitors coming from Horsham Downs and Horotlu, In the euchre tournament the prizes were won by Miss Church and Mr J. Johnston for the highest scores, and Mrs Aiken and Mr Bruce Carrie were awarded the consolation prizes. The dance music was excellently rendered by Mr. Gibb (pianist), and Mr McDonald (violinist). Messrs Holmes and Johnston acted as M.’s.C, In the Monte Carlo dance Mr A, Holmes and Mrs Alkon were the winners, Tho committee Intend holfllng a sorles of theso entertainments. Tho next euchre and dnnoo Is to be on Wednesday, July 3: A Farewell, The farewell function In honour of Mr and Mrs J. Bailey and family, held In the To Rapa Hall was a pleasant function, the large gathering of friends from To Rapa and To Kowhal bearing testimony to the popularity of the departing guests. Mr Bailey, after residing 18 years In the district, has sold his farm, and has'taken up residence In Frankton. After supper Mr A. Holmes, on behalf of the two districts* .wished the

guests of the evening success and prosperity in their new home, and I presented 'them with a silver tea sert vice and silver-mounted oak tray. Mr. Mathers, of Te Kowhai, also spoke of their guests’ good qualities. They all regretted losing such tine neighbours and friends. Mr and Miss Weatherly kindly supplied the dance music, and Mr and Mrs Naylor won the Monte Carlo waltz. In the card games Mrs Naylor and Mr Mathers were the lucky ones for the highest score, and Miss Church and Mr Taylor for the lowest.
