OBITUARY
PROFESSOR MEREDITH ATKINSON. LONDON, May 14. The death is announced of Professor ,Meredith Atkinson, aged 46. Professor Atkinson has hen secretary lo the new Health Society since 192 b. lie was also lecturer in economics and politics at Hie Cambridge University for extra-mural studies and was editor of the Review of Reviews (Australasia) from 1922 to 1925. Amongst other positions he has held were director of tutorial classes and lecturer in economic history, Sydney University, 1914-17; Professor and lecturer in Sociology, Melbourne University 191722. He was honorary commissioner in the Russian famine area for Save the Children Fund, 1922. He also investigated relief work in Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey on behalf of the same organisation in 1925.
MAJOR J. B. ARIELL. PAPAROA, Wednesday. Major .1. B. Aricll, who had been associated with the district for many years, died yesterday, aged 75 years. At the Hamilton sale on Tuesday, a line of .709 four, six and eight-tooth ewes in lamb sold by Messrs Dalgety and Co., on account of the McAlister Estate, realised 78s 9d each.
