NGARUAWAHIA BOROUGH.

MEETING OF NEW COUNCIL. COMMITTEES APPOINTED. The first meeting of the Ngaruawahia Borough Council since the election was held last night, there being present the Mayor (Mr H. ,J. Sampson) and Crs. W. M. Paterson, J.’ S. Johnson, S. S. Saulbrey \V. C. Payne and R. Eyre.

Tlie Mayor and councillors made the usual dcelaralions before business was taken.

Crs Paterson and Johnson were appointed streets committee, and the Mayor and Cr. Eyre finance committee. These committees will have another member added to them after Hie by-election now pending. The streets committee was authorised to deal with the matter of crossing signs as prescribed by the Railway Department in pursuance of the motor regulations. The Council resolved to affiliate with the Municipal Association. A report from the Government Analyst stated that a recent analysis showed that the borough water supply was pure.
