PROTEST AGAINST INTRODUCTION BOARD TAKES NO ACTION. AUCKLAND, Thursday. At a meeting of the Education BOaul a letter was received from the lvereone (Morrinsviile) school committee, expressing strong disapproval of the introduction of the teaching of evolution in schools. When Mr C. Brownlee rose to speak he was advised by Mr E. G. “A teacher should be permitted to get at the truth, and there should be no attempt to restrict the reference books made available by the Education Department,” said Mr J. Boddie. The board showed little desire to enter into discussion on the subject and the matter was allowed to drop without any action being taken.
