CLEMENCEAU’S FORECAST
CONSERVATIVE VICTORY.
MR LLOYD GEORGE DISCOUNTED

LONDON, May 14
The Paris correspondent of the Daily Express, in a special interview with M. Clemenccau, asked the veteran statesman what he thought, would be the result of the general election In Britain.
M. Clemenccau replied: “I think Mr Baldwin will win.”
“But what about the women’s vote?" asked Hie correspondent. M. Clemenccau then asked the correspondent wtio tie thought would win. The journalist replied that he thought Mr Lloyd George would be the sensation of the election. The eyes of M. Clcmenceau hardened: “I will tell you about this Lloyd George,” he said. “He is unstable and knows not what he wants. Bui I know what be wants. It Is violence. So saying the speaker rose and put his hands on the neck of the correspondent and shook him. The latter asked: “Is it true that you ha've quarrelled with Mr George'?" “The Tiger” laughed and said: “Yes, Indeed. Once we nearly fought, but President Wilson walked between us and pushed us apart." The Daily News say the Prime Minister, Mr Baldwin, lias caused a sensation in political circles by overruling the Central Conservative i ganisation regarding the proposal put up a Conservative candidate m opposition to Sir John Simon, who is chairman ol’ the Indian Statutoiy form Commission, owing to his strong support of Mr Lloyd Georges polio}. Mr Baldwin insists that his views, expressed in January, 1928, that Sn John Simon should not be opposed, have remained unaltered.
