SURPRISE PARTY.
EVENING AT PAIRERE SCHOOL. A surprise party was given for Mr Arnold Tinkler at the Pairere School last W'eek, to celebrate his coming-of-age. The ladies of the district had decorated the school very attractively for the occasion, and a large number of guests attended. Dancing, games, and community singing was indulged in, to music supplied by Mrs Maud and Mrs Selby, and later in the evening a delicious supper was served. Mr Tinkler received many gifts, including a substantial cheque. The singing of “For he’s a Jolly Good Fellow” and the National Anthem brought to an end a very jolly and happy evening. Mrs Tinkler received her guests in a charming gown of cornflower blue crepe de chine. Those present were: Mrs Lilly, Miss Ivy Lilly, Mrs Selby, Mrs Watkins, Mrs Maud. Mrs Barriball, Miss Barrihall, Miss L. Fell. Miss W. Fell, Mrs Spedding, Miss Hughes, Rev. and Mrs Brabyn, Mrs Holwell, Mrs Kernott, Miss Kernott, Miss Arnold. .Mrs Newport, Mrs Hollier, Miss H. Hollier, Miss E. Hollier, Miss Sped‘cling, Mrs Arnold, Mrs Grey.
