UNITED STATES’ FLEET.
PROPOSED PACIFIC CRUISE. CONCENTRATION NEXT YEAR. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) WASHINGTON, Dec. 8. The goodwill tour by the Presidentelect, Mr H. C. Hoover, to South America will be followed by a similar visit by American naval forces.
The Navy Department announces that a number of battleships, destroyers, cruisers, and submarines will be detached for a .South American cruise from the combined Atlantic and Paciflz fleets. They will he massed in Pacific waters from January ’ until June, to test the defences of the Panama Cana;.
They will form the greatest concentration of American sea power since the Panama manoeuvres five years ago.
