Mr Alf Bartley of Devonport is staying a few days in Hamilton. Second Lieutenant S. A. McNaniafa. Ist Battalion, Waikato Regiment, is retired, says the New Zealand Gazette. Sir Ilarry Lauder will arrive in Wellington on Wednesday morning from England. The appointment of Mr Giovanni Formichella as Italian Consul for New Zealand and Western Samoa is gazetted. Sir W. Watson Chcyne, baronet, and Brigadier W. Sinclair-Burgess, C.R., C.M.0., D. 5.0., will arrive at Wellington next Wednesday by the Tamaroa from England. It is gazetted that Colonel R. Traey-lnglis, 0.8. E., \ .H-> M. 8., N Z. Medical Corps, has been granted an extension of one year in the period of bis appointment as Director oi Medical Services. The retiring manager of Dixieland Cabaret, Auckland, Mr N. W. Loveridge was given a farewell by members of Hie staff, Dixieland Band and the dancers on Saturday evening. Mi Loveridge, who is retiring on account of jii-heaith, was presented with several sifts, including an engraved wristlet watch, from the staff and hand. The Rev. E. R. Weeks, who has for a considerable time officiated as “Uncle Ernest” during the children's sessions at broadcast station 2YA, Wellington, was given a fitting farewell at the station studio. Mr Weeks was presented with a large moroccobound volume containing the signatures of thousands of juvenile listeners to whom he had endeared himself The directors of the Broadcasting Company through Mr Drummond, (he otlieial announcer, presented Mr Weeks with an elaborate illuminated address. Mr Weeks will leave Wellington on December 11 for Auckland, via Rotorua. He will sail from Auckland on December IS by the Niagara fur Home.
