GORDONTON.
Leap Year Dance. The Leap Year dance arranged by the young ladies of the district was a marked success. There was a large crowd present and many were the congratulations bestowed upon the organisers. The hall and stage were prettily decorated with streamers, spring flowers and evergreens, and gave a very pleasing effect. The very fine supper provided by the ladies was greatly appreciated. Dancing was kept up to a late hoar and went with.a merry swing. The music, which was supplied by the young ladies, assisted by Mesdames Carswell and Bell and the Maori orchestra, greatly added to the pleasant evening. The Misses 0. Morgan and E- Saxton acted as M’s G. s New Public Hall. The end of the present month should see ttic new hall near completion and all are looking forward to the opening night, when it is anticipated that something out of the usual will be staged. The building, which is of con-' Crete, with a spacious supper-room, up-to-date kitchen, dressing and anterooms, should serve the needs of the district for many years. :.. This fine building is a credit to the builders. In all probability the buildI ing will be opened by the Prime ilinster some time next month.
