TRIUMPH OF JOURNALISM.

ACCOUNT OF THE FIGHT. DISTRIBUTING THE NEWS. .What amounts almost to a triumph of* modern journalism was performed yesterday by the New Zealand Press Association and the New Zealand Post and Telegraph Department in connection with the Tunney-lleeney lightThe contest did not close until 2.30 p.m. at the Yankee Stadium, New York, 7000 miles away, yet a detailed account of the fight from the ringside, almost blow by blow, was written, cabled and disseminated to the evening press throughout New Zealand within an hour, and enabled even the provincial papers to print the full account in their afternoon editions. When the difficulties that must have heen encountered in getting the news awaythrough all the bustle and excitement at the scene of the fight, and the time that must necessarily have elapsed in Hie re-transmission and distribution at this end are considered, we think the feat is one of which both the Press Association and the Telegraph Department have reason to feel proud. To the operating staff of the Hamilton Post Office, whom we have always found skillful and obliging, the thanks of the public are due for their special effort to make the news available to the public of this district.

NEWS RUSHED THROUGH. HOW IT WAS DONE. CABLES BEAT THE WIRELESS. (Bv Teiegraph— Association.) WELLINGTON, Saturday. Mr Markman, manager of the Pacific Cable, made special arrangements to have the press result of the fight rushed through. According to his information the message readied Auckland before advice by the wireless cable station at Bamfleld (Vancouver Island) signalled it through direct to Auckland in the Hash of a second. The lime taken between the stadium and Vancouver was a matter of three or four .seconds. Besides the above, the Press Association also received the final from Mr O'Meara two minutes afterwards, and from Sydney five minutes later.
