OBITUARY.

IV3R A. H. LE QUESNE. FORMER HAMILTON RESIDENT. Australian papers just to hand announce the sudden death at Parkes, New South Wales, of Mr Albert Hamon Le Quesne, at the age of si. The late Mr Lc Quesne was a native of New Zealand, being born in Hamilton, and was well known and popular here. His father, Mr P. Le Quesne, who has reached the advanced age of 92, is an esteemed resident of Hamilton. Deceased went to Australia about 25 years ago, settling at Parkes, and quickly earning the liking and respect of his fellow-townsmen- An Australian paper says:—"The late Mr Le Quesne will be chiefly remembered by his activities on behalf of the Parkes Hospital, in the welfare of which he took a very keen interest. Another feature in his character was his fondness for children, and lie was a great favourite with the rising generation, who will miss him greatly. At the funeral there was a large and representative gathering to pay a last tribute, of respect.

DANNEVIRKE POSTMASTER. (By Telegraph-—-Press Association.) * DANNEVIRKE, Saturday. The death is announced of Mr Samuel James Bolton, who has been postmaster at Dannevirke for three and a half years. lie iiad had a brief illness. Deceased took an interest in military matters, having been connected with volunteers and territorials for many years. He was a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Army Pay Corps of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces serving in Gallipoli, Egypt, France and Germany and at base records in England. He was awarded the 0.8. E. for bravery in the danger zone. Deceased was gasred while on active service. He leaves a widow and a son and daughter. DR. P. B. READING. (Received July 28, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 28. The death is announced of Dr. Phillip Durdett Reading, a leading dental surgeon. He had been ill for only a few hours. Deceased was a brother of Mr Frank Reading, of Wellington, also of Mr Fairfax Reading, professor of dentistry at Sydney University. He leave a widow and two children.
