Hall Society. • The annual meeting of the above was held in the Tauhci Hall on the night of May The attendance was only fair. In making the annual report Ihe president, Mr 11. J. Valentine, referred to the very uneventful year as far as improvements to the hall were concerned. The committee had managed to keep out of debt, but had been unable to raise money for much-needed improvements. The speaker referred to the need of a larger*supper-room and also more space for the library, and hoped the incoming committee would be able to undertake these necessary improvements. The bon. secretary, Mr R. Haycock, read Hie balance sheet, audited by Mr .1. Woods, which showed a slight credit, balance. The secretary called members' attention to the different system of paying for the hall lighting. In the past the Thames Valley Power Board had charged a flat rate, but had lately installed a meter and the lighting charges had considerably increased. Haycock; committee, Messrs Checseman, Clark, Best and Berg; library committee, Messrs Cheeseman; Brunt and Haycock; auditor, Mr J. Woods. Mr Cheeseman, secretary for the library, reported that the library was nourishing and the committee had £7 in hand for new books, but at present had no space available. Amusement Committee. After the meeting a dance was held, and dancing was kept up tilt midnight. The music was supplied by Mr Berg and a gramophone furnished the extras. The supper was provided by the ladies. Mr P. Clark made an efficient M.C. During the hall meeting a strong amusement committee was elected, consisting of Misses M. Smith, Allan and Valintine, Messrs P. Clark, W. Best, S. Brown, R. Findly, B. Findly, F. Jack and J. Cato. Tauhei Roads. The Tauhci roads arc all practically metalled now, so that Lhc inhabitants should be able to move round in comfort during the winter. Mr Old, the, riding member for Tauhei, has retired, and an election will be held shortly to fill the vacancy. Mr 11. D. Williams, of Tauhei, has been nominated, and if elected should give ratepayers every satisfaction.
