ROTA TRIBUNAL
MATRIMONIAL DECISIONS. DO NOT FAVOUR THE WEALTHY. THE POPE'S CONDEMNATION. (Australian <& N.Z. Gable Assn) (Rec. October 3, 2.1 p.m.)) ROME, October 2. During a papal audience at the Rota Tribunal, Monsignor Massimi, replying to press attacks said the Rota's Matrimonial decisions numbered 55, in which 28 favoured annulment of marriage, fourteen favouring rich people who were able to pay the costs, and fourteen poor folk whose costs were borne by the Rota, completely absorbing the fees which the rich people paid. The Pope extolled the zeal of the Rota, which, since the church was immaculate, must be immaculate also.
