HOW OFFICIAL ROLL IS KEPT. 300-YEARS-OLD TITLE. No honourable Order in Britain has been more indeterminate than that of the Baronetage, until two Royal War-rants—-one of King Edward VH. and one of the present King—regularised Its existence by the the establishment of an Official Roll,

Tills Roll is, as directed by Royal Warrant, prepared and kept In the Home Office, and no person whose name Is not officially recognised in the Roil can be received at Court as a baronet, or be so described in any commission to Iho Navy, Army, or Reserve Forces, or In any appointment to the Civil Service, An official committee of the Privy Council was appointed to hear petitions by claimants whose names had been omitted from the Roll and a number of claims were investigated. A handsome copy, hound in red cloth, of, the Official Roll of the Baronets, corrected to March 1, 1927, is issued with official sanction by the Standing Council of the Baronetage (London; Adlard and Son, Ltd.).
