Cheese Prices. It is reported that a local factory, which has disposed of its cheese at a satisfactory price to the end of November, has received a further offer at an advanced price, till the end of February 1928. The flrst-narned price represents a considerable increase in advance payments on last year’s figures, and will he welcome news for dairy farmers. With the weather conditions promising well and a prospect of higher prices, the outlook is really better than for some years. Cheaper fertilisers have also been a good help this year, even where finance has had to be arranged. Finance for stock has also been made, available by at least one of the smaller co-operative concerns. All round more confidence is evident in the farming industry. Workers’ Educational Association. The fortnightly session was resumed after the holidays on Wednesday at the Junior High School. Two more plays were read and a paper on “11. G. Wells and His Works” was given by Mr White, a teacher at the school. Although the local branch was unable to obtain the services of a lecturer for this session interest in the movement has in no way abated.
Camping Area. Mr E. G. Young, local agent Auck- * land Automobile Association, has at last been successful in obtaining a site for a camping area for motorists. Satisfactory arrangements have been made with Mr Griffiths, Station Road, for the use of a paddock on his property. The site is on the main highway and well sheltered and within easy reach of the post office and shopping area. j Last year a camping ground at the ! Crystal Springs was well patronised, a party of girl peace scouts being in residence there for some time, through the courtesy of the owner. The town ' camp will possibly be more central for those tourists who wish to make a day or two’s stay. Croquot Club’s Soda). A pleasant evening was spent at Mr and Mrs G.
