NGAHINAPOURI.

Hockey.

On Saturday last a hockey match was played at Hamilton between the Tui Ladies’ Club and Ngahinapouri ladies. During the morning the weather was very unsettled but improved towards noon, and by afternoon was ideal for hockey. A very interesting game was played by both teams, but as the game advanced the Ngahinapouri players displayed their superiority and the play was in their favour. The result was a win for Ngahinapouri by four goals to nil. Mr Buckland was re feree.

After the game the Tui girls very generously entertained the visitors to afternoon tea. A very sociable time was spent, during which Miss Gwen Reid, captain of the Ngahinapouri Club, thanked the Tui girls for ' their kindness and pleasant game. The Tui captain responded and said her team had enjoyed the game immensely. This is the second game of the season between the two mentioned teams. The first game resulted in a draw. It was the first match of the season for the Ngahinapouri Club, which was a fresh team in the field at the time. The result of the last match was very encouraging for the local team. The individual play of the whole team has improved wonderfully since the commencement of the season. Judging from the successful results of this sea-

son’s play there should be no reason to prevent Ngahinapouri from entering a strong ladies’ team for the Hamilton competitions next season.
