MATANGI.

Enjoyable Concert,

The success which greeted the Bible Class Club when it held a social function a few weeks ago was again attained on Saturday evening, when a splendid concert was given to one of the largest audiences seen in Mafangi for some time. It was the feeling that Hie Church should supply the social needs of ils younger members that prompted Hie formation of the Club, and it is gratifying lo know that as a result of Saturday night the funds will be considerably augmented.

The Cluli is indebted to the Dramatic Club for the use of the footlights and stage lutings.

The programme, which was appreciated by the audience, was varied and of a very high standard. Vocal items were given by Miss E. Neilson (mezzo), Miss R. Thompson (contralto), Mr C. Thompson (baritone), Mi- A. Webster (tenor), and Rev. J. W. Marlin (bass). Mr H. Milne favoured wild a violin solo, and was accompanied by Mr S. Duncan in a violin duel. Mr Duncan also gave a violin selection. Two humorous recitations were given, by Mr G. Giimour. ■ Mr W. Taylor amused with a humorous reading and a musical monologue. Mr C. Caldwell and Mr T. Hicks delighted the audience with a well-acted character sketch. A farce in one, act and a one-act comedy caused much laughter, and a playeUe by Hie St. Paul’s Methodist Bible Class kept the gathering in a merry mood. Mr A. Bryant presided at the piano.

At the close of the performance a hearty supper, kindly given by Mrs j. T. Bryant, was served lo all performers and members of visiting classes*- *
