GREAT TIDAL WAVE.
A TOWN FLOODED. MANY LIVES LOST. 7000 PEOPLE HOMELESS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) ROME, November 8. A tidal wave invaded the town of Rari, on the cast coast of Italy, 65 miles north-west of Briridisi. The town was flooded to a depth of 6ft. in a few minutes. Some of the inhabitants fled In their night attire. Numerous houses collapsed, however, and the inmates were buried beneath the debris. Thirty bodies have already been discovered. Seven thousand people are homeless. Lord Lloyd, British Commissioner for Egypt, who was travelling to that country, was involved in the disaster, but he was saved.
