WHATAWHATA ROAD.
PROPOSAL TO 3ITUMINISE. WAIPA COUNCIL'S ATTITUDE. The suggestion to. give the road between Frankton and Whatawhata a bituminous surface was discussed by the Waipa County Council yesterday, when a letter was received from the Hamilton Council proposing, a tally of traffic- over the stretch to 'see if the amount of traffic would warrant it. Cr. A. Livingstone said his reason for suggesting a bitumen surface in the first place was on account of the high upkeep. There was a big volume of traffic on the road in summer time and it might be an economical proposition lo bituminise the road. The engineer, Mr Civil, thought the Highways Board should take over the road. The Council expressed itself in opposition lo a further tally,' and decided to await a move by the Highways Board.
