MAUNGATAUTARI RANGE.
CLIMATIC RESERVE. PROPOSAL TO PURCHASE. A recent conference of local body representatives at Cambridge discussed proposals for conserving the bush on Maungatautari mountain as a climatic reserve. The Government has offered to contribute 15s per acre towards the purchase of 2800 acres of the mountain top from the private owners, provided the local bodies interested between them will And the balance of 5s an acre. Yesterday the Waipa County Council agreed to pay the amount allocated to it (£18) for the purpose.
