TWO TRACTORS DAMAGED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. A Are was discovered yesterday morning in a building in Queen Street, Onehunga, used as a garage and storeroom by New Zealand Roads, Ltd. The plant and stock were insured. All the company's haulage work at Onehunga has been done by tractors, two of which were in the building and were considerably damaged. THAMES, Monday.
At Kopu crossing on Saturday the express from Thames to Frankton collided with a flvc-scatcr car conveying several passengers, and driven by Mr L. Nankelow. The front portion of (he car got over safely, but the engine caught the rear part. The v*?iclc was thrown into a drain some yams away. No one was injured, but the car was damaged. AUCKLAND, Tuesday.
A fracture of the right thigh was sustained by an elderly woman, Miss Jsobel Snook, aged 70, of Epsom, yesterday, through one of her shoes catching on the stair carpet at her home, and causing her to fall two or three steps. MAN OVERBOARD. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Last evening a man named William Partridge, aged 30 years, residing In Onehunga, was swept from a launch into the Manukau Harbour. He was steering while Mr Rcece, who was with him, was attending the engine. Hearing the boom swing to suddenly, Mr Rcece rushed on deck to find that his companion had disappeared. He brought the launch to anchor, and lowering a dinghy cruised about in the vicinity for about half an hour until a second launch came on the scene. The search proved fruitless. It is understood that Mr Partridge was a strong swimmer, but he was probably rendered unconscious by a blow from the boom.
