King’s Birthday. Fine but dull weather was experienced for the King’s Birthday. There were no local attractions, but the trains to the Hamilton Show and Auckland races were well patronised. Many farmers are now taking their hard-earned holidays, which will tend to make the country towns quieter for a period. Te Poi School. A welcome to the new headmaster, Mr J. J. Molloy, transferred from Kawhia, was extended by the committee and residents last week. Mr G. May (chairman of the committee), heartily welcomed Mr and Mrs Molloy to the district. Mr Molloy, who is a strong believer in physical, as well as mental development,' suitably responded, after which a delightful afternoon tea was served by the ladies. Tho Weather. The rainfall for May was. according to Mr \V. Ilalligan’s gauge, slightly less than in surrounding districts. It amounted to 9.45 inches, the corresponding month last year being only 4,71. In April, 1924, 9-87 inches of rain fell. Though unusually heavy, the district does not appear to have suffered by the excessive downpour.
