(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Since yesterday 7G3 men have signed on the unemployed list, in addition to 150 Amalgamated Societyengineers. A meeting of the unemployed executive resolved to ask the Premier to legislate to allow local bodies to borrow for urgent works, similar to 1 922, A telegram from Mr Coates intimated that 20 men would be employed at Orakci and 50 at Bombay. WELLINGT ON, T ue sday. In the ease of a boy charged with throwing a botile at a train, in the Supremo Court yesterday, it was erroneously reported that Ihc Judge made no order to suppress the names. Actually Mr Justice Reed made an order, but was unfortunately misunderstood. GISBORNE, Tuesday. A lighter, when returning from the steamer Kamo fully laden with cargo, struck the railway bridge and was found to Lc leaking. ,r ho cargo was. hurriedly discharged during the night. A quantity of bran, flour, biscuits, starch, and other goods was saturated, and regarded as a complete loss. The total damage has not yet been ascertained. CIIRISTCIIURCII, Tuesday. Eric Donald Ross, solicitor, pro viously convicted of embezzlement, was charged this morning with forging a memorandum of mortgage, by which lie secured £IOOO, on a client's house. lie pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial. TIMARU, T. esday. A special meeting, unanimously deckled to refuse all applications for licenses under the new bus regulations, on the ground that tlie borough is already sufficiently served 'by the municipal bus service. OAMARU, Tuesday.

A middle-aged man appeared In the Court this morning, charged with the theft of £IOO from an Auckland firm. The names were suppressed. Accused was remanded to appear at Auckland ou Saturday. PALMERSTON NORTH,, Tuesday. Local retailers this morning passed a resolution against the suggested Dominion universal Saturday halfholiday, and decided to take a petition round opposing legislation in this direction.
