, ■ Concept and Dance. I A concert and dance was held in Ihc Tauhei Ilall on May 28, in aid of j Iho school funds. The hall was i crowded. Tho School Committee ! had spared no troublo to assure success, and their efforts were amply rewarded. The first part of tho evening was devoted to musical items, recitations and games for the children. After this a sumptuous supper was proi vided by tho ladies. Then tho floor I was given up to lovers of tho terpsichoreau art, and dancing was kept! up till early morning. The musio for the dance was provided by the Tauhei Orchestra Mrs Cambio (piano), Mrs Haycock (violin), and Mr Lambio (violin). Messrs Haycock and Harris (members of tiio School Committee) acted as M’s.C. The concert programme was: Song, Winnie Middleton; recitation, Zoo Smith; Song, Miss Noble; recitation. Miss Mary Smith; song, Mr Murphy; recitation, Mr Middleton; song, Mrs Gibbons; violin solo, Mrs Haycock; song, Phoebe Harris; violin solo, Eileen Maxwell. The Tauhei Nigger Minstrels, consisting of Messrs Lambio, Haycock, Checseman, Maxwell, Murphy, W. Noble, and Harris, gave several amusing items. Mrs Lambio presided at the piano.
