DASTARDLY AFFAIR.
ASSAULT ON SEAMAN. BLINDED WITH CORROSIVE. AUCKLAND, Saturday. Blinded and suffering great pain as the result of having some corrosive fluid thrown in his eyes, Francis Wood, a seaman on the Wiugatui, aged 26, was admitted t.. the Auckland hospital Ftrrtly befor-3 0 o'clock last night. It is slated that Woods was assaulted following on some argument in the vicinity of the Ferry Building, but he does not know tho identity of the individual ,who threw the liquid nor have the police been able to ascertain it It is not yet known whether Wood's sight will be permanently allected, bir. tho injury is extensive.
