CLOSED BRITISH GAOLS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.i LONDON, March li. In view of the repeated statement of the post-war crime wavc.yit is interesting to note that 2 5 prisons have been closed in England since 1911, representing nearly half- the complement.
The women’s wings of three of the remaining gaols have been closed, while the majority arc by no means full.
Three goals were sold by auction and many others have been converted into temporary dwellings.
