THE SHOT SUSPECT
KNOWN AS DARING CRIMINAL. POLICE AIMED TO WOUND. (United Press Association.) SYDNEY, March 15. Lccourt, the suspect who was shot by the police, was a Belgian, who arrived in Sydney in 1907. He had been convicted seven times in New South Wales and was known to the police by many aliases. He was regarded as a particularly daring criminal, and when lie refused to surrender after a shot had been fired over his head the constable decided to wound him, and accordingly aimed at liis legs, but as he pressed the trigger lie stumbled and the bullet went high and entered Lecourt's head.
