NEW CABLE.
SEVENFOLD TRANSMISSION RATE. PERTH, March 15. The new cable at present is being laid between Cocos Island and Australia. It will be brought into service shortly, and will increase the transmission rate sevenfold. The cable is remarkable for the fact that no manual manipulation of the messages intervenes between its terminals. N\ cllington and London. All relaying cn route is automatic, reception and transmission perfectly synchronising.
