ADVANCE AT LONDON SALES. LONDON, Sept. IG. The wool sales have opened. Prices showed a 10 to 15 per cent, advance. THE SYDNEY SALES, > COMPETITION KEENER. SYDNEY, Sept. 16. At the wool sales to-day, competition was decidedly more general and keener than on the opening day. French huyers were particularly active. There was occasional inquiry on American account. The market showed a hardening tendency. This was most pronounced in the liner grades suitable to Continental demands, which occasionally saw a further advance of 7A per cent. Greasy Merinos sold to -iOd, comebacks to 32Jd. KEEN COMPETITION. ADVANCE IN PRICES. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company have received the following cable from (heir London oflire: — "London wool sales opened, kern competition. Merinos, flue crosshreris, coarse crossbreds, l" per cent.. to Ir> per cent, up; medium crossreds 124 per cciiL.''
