THE MASTER OF THE HIGHWAY.

STILL TO THE FORE. Messrs Grant and Caughley, the local agents' for the Jewett Cars, have struck a novel idea with their exhibit this year. Stripped to the chassis, they have a special touring model which has done some 16,000 miles; all the working parts are exposed to view, and are seen actually working. This' is an opportunity that the motorist is rarely given—to see exactly how the various intricate parts of the motor and transmission function. The model has created much attention, and the firm are certainly deserving of congratulation on the cxclusivcness of their display. The Jewett Car has only been before the public for a little over a year, but it has established a place for itself and a reputation for genuine service which might be envied by any in the business. The Jewett is a Paige conception, designed and built by Paige engineers. The Paige car needs no comment here, as it stands- alone in the motor-car world; but it is from Paige that the Jewett inherits those unmistakable marks of quality characterising the work of a group of experts who for many years have been building the fine six-cylinder cars bearing the Paige monogram. Two unusual performances' might be mentioned which are exclusively Jewett. One of these standard models with touring body did the trip from Auckland to Wellington in 14 hours 58 minutes; another standard model drove from Invercargill to Picton, then Wellington to Napier, a distance of 1247 miles, on "top gear" all the way. The above facts are severe tests of endurance and dependability, and surely worthy recommendation for the Jewett Messrs Grant and Caughley wish to intimate that they arc now controlling their own Service Station, where repairs arc carefully executed and ample stocks of requirements for motorists are available. The address of the Jewett agents is the Motor Block, Barton Street, Hamilton, where enquiries' will receive prompt and courteous attention.
