The motion adds: "in view of these fads this meeting can only regard the Government's action as vindictive and not worthy of men who claim, as rulers of the country, to be fair-minded in their actions. We request, all members to discuss the question in the House next session." A CHANGED FRONT. EXPLANATION WANTED.

Bv Telegraph.—Press Association WELLINGTON, Wednesday.

The Thorndon branch of the A.S.R.S. a few weeks ago passed a resolution of confidence in the executive. Last Sunday it was resolved that the executive be called on to explain recent happenings or resign. The secretary states that the reason for the discrepancy is that members want to know what happened while the strike was being called off. as since then many things have, happened, including the reversion to the 48-hour week and the withdrawal of the society from the Alliance of Labour. They were unaware of Ihese things when the first, resolution was adopted. Mr McArlry states, in reply to Mr Connolly, that his organisalion, the E.F.C.A., took the initiative three limes during the war to gain the bonus, although in Mr Sedrlon's time il had stood down (.o allow men on the basic. wage lo get an increase. 11, struck in 1920 and obtained 3s per day increase, with improved conditions for every member in the service, of the Government. If Mr Connolly had not been so keen as a lyro leader and had asked the E.F.C.A. for assistance at the beginning of the negotiations with (he Government the basic wage man would have had a better bargain marie for him than by Mr Connolly, NO CONFIDENCE IN EXECUTIVE A NAPtLB RESOLUTION, NAPIER, Wednesday. A largely attended meeting of the Napier railway workshop employees passed (he following; motion: "That this mass meeting of workshop employees has no confidence in Ihe executive of the A.S.R.S. or its officers, and calls on them to tender their resignations."
