THE NEW CABINET,
POLICY OF NEGOTIATION.
COMMUNIST HOSTILITY.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn. BERLIN, August 13. Dr. Stresemann lias formed a Coalition Cabinet, composed of members of the Socialist. Centre, and People's parties. He takes the portfolio of Foreign Affairs himself. The new members of the Cabinet are:— Herr Hilferding (Radical), Finance. Ilcrr Raumcr (People's Party), Economy. Herr Heinrich (no party), Railways. Herr Radbruch (Socialist), Justice. Herr Ruchs (Centre Party), Home. The following members of the Cuno Cabinet retain their portfolios:— Dr. Gcssler (Centre Party), Dofence. Herr Stingl (no party), Posts. Dr. Brauns (Centre Party), Labour. The new Cabinet represents all parties except the Communists. The latter are actively opposed, and are causing trouble, but the Government is hopeful by its financial policy to save the country from the Communists on hand and the Royalists on : the other. i The Berlin correspondent of the j Daily Chronicle states that Dr. Strescmann's position in the business world: •brings him into the closost contact with j the most prominent magnates, among; whom, however, he has some rather [ bitter enemies. It is suggested that j his policy will be toward negotiations with the Entente or France alone along the road of an economic understanding. Dr. Stresemann, compared with Herr Cuno. who showed himself weak and hesitating, is go ahead. He will hit hard and talk straight. LONDON, August 13.
Messages from Berlin state that Communists at Seitz attempted to drive militia from the Town Hall. A street fight ensued in which nine Communists were killed. Many people were wounded on both sides.
Fighting also occurred at Hamburg between strikers and police. A number of the former were killed.
