TAMAHERE ROAD BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING.

The monthly meeting of the Tamahere Road Board was held at Matangi on Monday morning, when there were present Messrs. W. Lee Martin (chairman), T. Clarkin, H. Marychurch, S. Lye, J. R. Hooper and the clerk (R. p. Hazard). ', . . The Board dealt with the important question of-road metal supplies for bitumenons road work and the chairman and clerk reported negotiations with the Prisons’ Quarry at Mt. Eden and the placing of an order for 2,000 yards of2iin, liin, lin, Jin, and waste in the necessary proportions, delivery to commence on September 1 next at the rate of ten trucks per week. This action was approved. At the same time i the Board confirmed the arrangement , previously made with Mr. John Clarkin •' to take 1,000 yards of 2i” metal from ! his Te Aroha Quarry. The clerk was instructed to send out notices to sue in respect of all 1922-1923 arrears. • Tenders were submitted for the re- . pair of the cottage and it was left in the hands of the chairman to arrange for the work to be done. Quotations were submitted from the Texas Co. and Ellis and Co., but in. view of the work to be done this sca- . son and the quantity on hand it was . decided to order no more bitumen meanwhile. The Clerk reported:—General Account £157 Is id. in debit. Bond Loan Account £36 16s lOd. in credit. Deposit Account £3,000. in credit. ' The chairman and clerk reported having arranged for the hiring of the steam-truck to the Hamilton Borough Council until September next, and their action was confirmed. The foreman reported that he hal taken measures to safeguard Platts culvert. It was left to the foreman to arrange about pipes, for Turner’s, Kidd’s and Killcn’s Roads and also to arrange for continuous grading until further ’orders on what roads lie considers advisable.
