MONTHLY MEETING.

The monthly meeting of fhe Warpa County Council, field at Ohaupo yesterday, -was attended by Crs. D. S. Reid (chairman), C. M. Alexander, A. J. Storey, \V. McGee. H. T. Reilly. A. Livingstone, J. S. Fisher, R. G. Spenke, S. C. Macky, A. H. Crawford, and E. F. Poacocke. Cr, McCarthy was granted leave of absence. Inspector of Bridges. The secretary Ngaruawahia Chamber of Commerce wrote suggesting that a competent inspector of bridges should be permanently employed by ■the united counties and boroughs grouped under the Highways Act. The Council did not consider such appointment fvas essential so far as it. was concerned. One member remarked that there were too many inspectors now. IHaungatautarl Range. The Commissioner of State Forests advised that it was recognised that the forest on Maungatautari Mountain should be conserved if possible, but as the forest was of value mainly for protection, water conservation and scenic purposes, it was regretted that the State Forest Service had no funds for the purpose. Wletal Deposits. The Te A'wamutii sorough Council advised that a report had been asked for lrt regard to obtaining metal supplies from. Te Kawa hill. The fee for the report' was not to .exceed £ls 15s, and the Council was asked if it would agree'to paying half the amount. The Council deferred the matter for the engineer to make further inquiries. Subdlvisional Matters. Messrs Thomson and Farrer forwarded a tracing of Mr Wm. Taylor’s subdivision and inquiring if the Council intended to insist upon the reservation of the 5 per cent, of the total area for special public reserves. Harvey, Te Kowhai, sought permission to shift his road fence out about 4ft to enable him to eradicate noxious weeds—Left to Cr. Crawford to investigate. ...... Mr E. H. Jail, Te Rapa, asked that repairs be effected to the River road, which had borne much heavy traffic while ’the main Ngaruawahia road was impassable for traffic. Referred to Cr. Reilly. „ . TT Mr F. J. Saxhy, Ohanpo Road, Hamilton, wrote that a neighbour had not removed the fence across the writers frontage. He stressed the need for prompt action, as there was danger of his herd being damaged by diseased bulls breaking through.—lt was decided to abide by the earlier decision to order the fence to be removed. Mr E. J. Latton, Horotiu, asked the • Council to. Open , a road' to his section about'a mile south of Horotiu. A culvert or crossing over a gully would be necessary. The' writer offered any assistance in getting the work done.— Referred to Cr. Crawford, and engineer for report. __
