SUNDAY GAMES
SCENES IN LONDON PARKS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, August 19. fl’he London County Council’s decision permitting games to be played in the parks on Sunday afternoons has produced a striking social change. On most Sundays since tlie, decision the weather has been wet or threatening, but on fine clays games arc going at full swing from two o’clock till nine. Over 500 tennis courts and scores of bowling greens are continuously occupied and thousands of boys and youths 'play cricket. The scenes are entirely changed from the time when the parks were solely populated by promenaders and openair orators and preachers. Sundays now are indistinguishable from Saturdays. Church people continue to utter vigorous protests in the newspapers, and are planning elaborate compaigns in provincial towns and cities, none ot which yet has followed London’s example.
