BEVAN’S FRAUDS
ARRAIGNED ON FOUR COUNTS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, August 18. Gerard Le<e Bevan, late chairman of directors of the City Equitable Fire Insurance Company, who was extradited from Vienna, was charged at the Guildhall to-day with publishing false balance sheets of the company in 1919 and 1920, publishing a prospectus containing false statements, fraudulent conversion of money, and obtaining money by false pretences by inducing persons to take shares in the company. Tlie case was remanded for a week.
