Passionless (George* .. 1 Brodick 2 Sylvan 3 Also started: Royal Mark, Miss Leslie, Mavourneen, Silver Lode, Night Time, Merry Nell, Miss Lucullus, Valley Queen, Araluen, Stammer, Connemara, Balkan States, Mimiwhangata. Passionless led throughout, and won by a length from the fast finishing Brodick, Sylvan being the same distance away. Time 1.15 3-5. Royal Mark was favourite. STEWARDS' HANDICAP. Miss Elliee (Coleman) .. I Scrap o' Paper 2 Esthonia 3 Also started: Escaped and Manukau. The winner led throughout, and won by two lengths, the third horse being half a-lenglh away. Time i. 15 4-5. Esthonia was favourite. FIRST HANDICAP STEEPLES. Capsal (Copestake) .... 1 Peer . Rosa 2 Kautahoe 3 Also started: Totara .lack, Coroglen, Keystone, Harbour Light, and Lombardy. The three placed orders were (he only ones to finish. Capsal went to the front on entering the last round, ttnd though strongly challenged by Peer Rosa won by three lengths. Daniell. the rider of Coroglen, sustained slight concussion as the result of \iis mount falling with him. HAURAKI PLAINS HANDICAP. Gold Plane (Glover) ... 1 Ohiti 2 Penona 3 Also started: Archie, Ohinewairua. Nunnerant, Tobasco and Winning Lass. Winning Lass led into the 'straight, but Gold Plane drew out at the distance, and in a good finish secured the verdict by half a-length, with Penona some distance away. Tobasco fell In the straight, but his rider escaped injury. Time 1.29 3-5. Archie was favourite. The totalisator handled £30,722, being an increase of £2257 over last year's figures. SECOND DAY. By Telegraph—Special Reporter. THAMES, Monday. The second day of the Thames hockey Club's meeting was held in line weather, there being a large attendance. Results: —■ HURDLES HANDICAP. Shellshock, 11.3 (Rennie) 1 Sea Dc'il, 10.10 2 Lady Lyddite, 10.6 .... 3 Also started: Lady Energy, Welshman, Don't, Stilts, Silver Pine, Guianform, Lady Glen, Waima, and Fox Glove. Stilts and Lady Lyddite made the early running. Shellshock and Sea De'il joined them in the last half mile the former winning by a length and a-quartcr, the third horse being the same distance away. Time 2.58 1-5. Shellshock was favourite. Lady Ene'rsry fell, and Mcßanvil, the rider, BUstaiacd a cut head and bruises. SECOND MAIDEN HANDICAP. Waiatapai, 7.3 (Maskeiy) 1 Lady Glissas, 7.0 2 Sylvan. 9.6 3 Also started: Princess Charming. Evshoria. Arch C*.reno, Colleen Dhas, Lady Claurcen, Marquil, Accelerate, Reretoa, Milesian, Annaroon. Milesian made the early running, but Waiatapai made a run from the straight and won bv a short half-length. Sylvan being one and a-half lengths away. Time 1.16 1-5. Sylvan was favourite.
