BRITISH SHIPBUILDING
A BIG INCREASE IN 1919. {Australian and N.Z. and Reuter.) Received January 13, 1.55 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 10. Lloyd’s Register shows that nearly 3.000. tons of shipping were being built in the United Kingdom at December 31, an increase of 177,000 compared with September 30, and 1.000. more than at December 31, 1918. The present total includes 55 vessels of 10,000 tons and upwards. Nearly 5,000,000 tons are being built abroad, a decrease of 205,000 compared with September 30. Owing- to the decrease of 500,000 in tonnage building in the United States, the world’s total of nearly 8,000,000 tons is about 187,000 tons lower Ilian at September 30.
