THE RAILWAY TROUBLE
DECISION OF WELSH BRANCHES. IMMEDIATE STRIKE URGED. SITUATION BECOMING CRITICAL, (The Times.) ; " Received January 8, 2.35 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 6. LNDN, Jan. 6. The Welsh railwaymen almost solidly rejected the, Government’s terms, and several branches instructed the delegates to the conference to urge an immediate strike. The situation, however, has not yet reached a crisis. There are 1340 branches to he consulted, of which the majority has not declared their intention.
Labour correspondents believe that the great body of trade unionists support Mr Thomas’ opposition to a strike, which the leaders of other great- unions condemn. It is pointed cut that the whole Triple Alliance must be consulted concerning a strike, or Mr Thomas may persuade the confemce to submit the question to the new railway committee.
