Scores are reported to have been killed by a violent earthquake which affected many parts of Mexico. The centre of the disturbances is believed to be near the volcano of of Vera Cruz suffered the greatest damage. Wild scenes of panic were enacted here, and many natives rushed to the churches, where they prayed. Similar panic occurred at Toluca, Cucranavac and Puebla. TWO VILLAGES DESTROYED. Several hundred deaths have been reported. The .effects of the quake were felt for 500 miles distant from Orizaba. Eighteen miles south-east of the volcano, at Citlaltepcx-x, a theatre crowd became panic stricken, and many were injured while attempting to escape. Many dead are reported at Vera Cruz.
