BODY ON THE BEACH
MENTAL HOSPITAL ESCAPEE. (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Wednesday. The body of a man was found yesterday afternoon on the beach near Highcliffe. At the inquest it was shown to ba that of William Scarlet, who escaped from Ashburn Mental Hospital on November 17. A body supposed to be his was seen in the sea on NoTemb«r L 9 and a message was found indicating that he contemplated suicide. A verdict was returned that lie committed suicide by drowning on the date mentioned, while of unsound mind.
