BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY

ORDINARY MEETING. A meeting of the Hamilton .Beautifying Society took place in the Public Library last night, there being present: Messrs W. Cr. Pountney (in tne chair), Innes, Fowler, Going, E. Hall, A. JS. Wallace, R. Parr and Worsley, also the foreman, Mr Mitchell. Complaint having been made that the sweepings from the streets were deposited behind the library, the matter was left to Mr Worsley to attend to. 'A he Hamilton Rowing Club askec! for permission to barricade portion of l'erry and Kowhai Banks on the pecassio'n' of the annual regatta.—Left to Messrs Parr, Innes and Worsley to confer with the Club and report to next meeting. The foreman's report dealt mainly with the wanton destruction of trees. —■ It was resolved that the attention of the police be called to a tree which had been sawn off. The Society also resolved to offer a reward of £1 for information which would lead to the conviction of any person damaging the Society's property.
