GLEN MASSEY MEDICAL ASSN.
HOSPITAL BOARD GRANT. An appeal for help was made to the Waikato Hospital Board yesterday, by the Secretary of the Glen Massey, Medical Association, who staigd that at the beginning of the present year the association had a membership of approximately 120, and a credit balance of £1155 9s. "After six months’ working the membership had dwindled to 80, and the bank balance to £34 9s 7d, shaving a loss for the half year’s working of £BO 19s sd. This was attributable to the abnormal amount of sickness, and to the fact that the Association’s medical officer had been forced, owing to the increased cost of living, to increase his charges. At the present time the Association wa» paying £55 per quarter and £1 10s per special visit. The llaglan County Council had even refused the Association a rebate upon punt fares. The last account for medicine alone for one month was £22 ss. _ ■On the motion of Mr Johnstone, it was decided to make the Association a grant of £2O. subject to th e approval of the Health Department..
