HAMILTON CHESS CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING. I'hc annual meeting of the Hamilton (?ness Club was held in the library last evening, Mr. H. Fenwick in the chair. The report showed that the past year had been a very successful one, "the attendance of members being very good. Williams for the use of his rooms for these matches. The annual report and balance-sheet, the latter showing a credit of £1 lis, were adopted. The officers were appointed as follows:—President, Mr. A. Gifford; vicepresidents, C. Hayward and A. E. Dav; secretary and treasurer, Mr. R. Mears; committee, the office-bearers. It was resolved to play only ladder games this year. A vote of £2 10s was passed to the Library Committee, and £1 Is to the librarian. The question of outside matches was left to the committee. The weekly meeting night was fixed for Thursday, commencing in the first week in June. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Mears for his services as secretary during the past season.
