ALLEGED LIBEL
NEWSPAPER WINS ACTION. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received April 5, 1 p.m. LONDON, April 4. A verdict for defendant was returned in the case le Bas versus the Daily Mail for libel. Plaintiff conducted a newspaper campaign against Mr Lloyd George, paying provincial papers to insert articles. Defendants attacked le Bas, asserting that he possibly would assist the enemy and corrupt the press. They never questioned plaintiff’s loyalty, but said he had conducted the campaign by unfair methods.
