BRITAIN AND JAPAN
* AN IRKSOME ALLIANCE.
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received March 31, 7.40 p.m.) NEW YORK, March 28. The Chicago Tribune’s correspondent says that apparently Britain )s llnding the Japanese Alliance irksome. Britain welcomes the League of Nations Covenant as an abrogation of existing treaties and alliances, allowing England to part company with Japan amicably and strengthening the bonds of Empire. It is no secret that Australia has been regarding the Anglo-Japanese, Alliance with increasing anxiety, and England realises that her Japanese alliance hampers the establishment of closer relations with the United States.
