TEACHER FAREWELLED
SEVERAL TOKENS OF ESTEEM. (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Friday. Mr F. Brown, headmaster of the Takapuna school, who has been transferred to Hamilton, was entertained by the local residents last evening, when ho was made the recipient of a number of presentations. There was a large attendance, the Education Board being represented by Hon. G. J. Garland, and the City Schools Teachers by Mr Carter. In presenting Mr Brown with an illuminated address and a travelling hag on behalf of the residents, His Worship the Mayor expressed the regret of tlie residents at losing Mr Brown and Ins family, who had endeared themselves to all. especially by their hard work during the epidemic. Iho tennis club presented Mr Brown with a walking stick; the Northern Suburban Agricultural and Horticultural Association, an entree dish - the Takanuna Bowling Club, a bowler’s hag; the Old Scholars, a writing case, and the School Committee and scholars handled him a gold watch and .chain. Mr Brown briefly acknowledged the, gifts and the expressions of regard: shown.
