ITALIAN OFFENSIVE
PANIC IN TRIESTE. REMOVING THE ARCHIVES. (Australian and N.Z. Gable Assn.) Received May 19, 1.20 p.m. ROME, May 18. The Correiere d'ltalia states that the Austrians have ordered civilians to evacuate exposed points on the Italian front. All the Trieste banks have closed, and the Government and leading businesses are removing their archives and valuables to Vienna. Many officers ■captured in the recent offensive came from the Russian front.
