SEVERAL ATTACKS REPULSED.
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn). Received May 19, noon. LONDON, May 18. A French communique states that the enemy violently bombarded California plateau in Chemin des Dames. Several attacks on the north-eastern end of the plateau were repulsed after the liveliest grenade fight. We maintained our positions. A somewhat intense si niggle lasted all night in the regions of Mont Cornillet and Mont Haut in the Champagne.
