From Our Own Correspondent. The annual school concert was given on Friday last. The programme was as follows :—Overture, Masters J. and H. Buraand; song "The Burlesque Band," infants; solo. "You Show Me Your Slate," Miss Dolly Burnand; song," Gently Rock the Cradle," infant girls; dialogue, " A visit to Old Betty," Misses L. Morrissey and L. Ormsoy; song, "Japanese Fan," ><irls; recitation, " The Dead Doll," girls j song, " Nothing Troubles Loo," niggers j solo, "TheCuokoos" Concert," Miss Furber ; song, •' How Bread is Made," Boys; reciiatioD, " *unt Tabitha," Miss L. Taylor; scarf drill, boys; song, •• I'm a Builder," boys; song, "Lucy Long," Niggers; Poi, Maori girls. The second part was a cantata, " Soot and the Fairies," Miss Lily Johnson taking the pnrt of the Fairy (jueen, and Master Neville Lowe taking Ciptain Soot. The whole wound up with ahakafeythe Maori boys. The h»U was packed to overflowing, close on £l2 oeing taken m shilling tickets. Mr John Ormsby was in the chair, ■nd complimented the teachers upon the uxoallent programme and the tnuthod of lttcarrying out, and spoke upon the beneficial effects resulting from these annual concerts, which are locked forward to as the chief attraction and entertainment of the year. The takings are to be expended in purchasing presents for all the sohool children (over 140) and prizes for some in all olasses. A word of thanks is due to Miss Johnson for her aid as aocompanist at the concert and at the previoua necessary practbes. Chief Judge Palmer with the Native Land Court removed to Rotorua. oa Saturday. Majo. Mair will resume .he work this week. Influenza and neuralgia are going the rounds just now, almost everyone having a touch of one or the other.
